Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
To raise awareness about the difficulties that blind people have to face every day and help foreign students understand their position and therefore the importance of promoting mobility among disabled.
Short description of the event:
The event took place in a small Spanish restaurant. Participants were blindfolded at the entrance and ESN members walked them to their tables. We separated people who came to the restaurant together, and walked them to different tables to make the event more thought-provoking. The dinner consisted of two course meals, one of them was a Spanish omlette - one for three people so they had to cooperate a little bit. After the meal, participants could take their blindfolds off and see the people who were sitting next to them whole evening. Everyone was very moved and we had a great discussion about the experience.
How did your event go?:
The event went very well. Everyone was moved and after the meal we discussed the experience and also situation of blind students who would like to spend some time abroad on an Erasmus exchange.
A good idea for the next event of this kind could be inviting a blind person to share his/her experience with foreign students.
