Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The goal of the event was, though different obstacles and challenges, to make people understand and feel how people with certain disabilities, "see" the world around them. Through a proccess of having lots of fun, we tried to spread a message, a message about how we see people with disabilities, a message about how thankful we have to be for everything we have, a message about how everyday things that we take for granted or consider too simple, for some people they could be way harder and not even close to being granted.
Short description of the event:
Though challenges such as, a blind taste test, whisper challenge, no touching and others, we made the participants understand and feel how people with certain disabilities, "see" the world around them. First step was to recognise certain objects like a lemon or a biscuit just by tasting or even only by smell. Second they had to do certain everyday things like tying their shoe laces, but using only three fingers, so they could think of other ways to do it. Then we had everyone wear blindfolds and try to feed one another and their companion had to unterstand what he/she was eating without seeing. Last but not least we had the Whisper challenge, where the participants tried to understand what others were saying but not able to listen since they had headphones on with loud music.
How did your event go?:
All in all it was a great success. Everyone got the right message and one more small step to changing how we view the world was made. But, we also had tons of fun doing the different activities and challenges.
