Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The objective of the activity is to make the participants, in this case students, aware of the common situations in which any person with a disability can be involved in their day to day activities.
Short description of the event:
The activity was carried out in a restaurant not accessible and with stairs in downtown Madrid. Erasmus students were blindfolded and taken to the dining room, leading them with clenched hands and by handrails banning stairs and crossing aisles until they could sit on the table. Once there, they were explained the mechanism of the activity. How to sit, where they had the cutlery, giving them advice on how to act at the table. Later they were put food and drink on the table so they could start dinner. Once the dinner was started, they were given activities and tests to feel the difficulty. At the end of the activity, a round table of questions was asked about how they had felt during the activity. They explained their feelings during the activity, and gave their opinion about the activity with the awareness with people with disabilities.
How did your event go?:
During the week of social activities, a dinner was held in the dark to raise awareness about the problems encountered by people with disabilities. This activity was carried out between the sections of Madrid to have the largest number of Erasmus of different universities in Madrid. It was reserved in a restaurant with little accessibility to offer them the vision of the problems of accessibility to premises. The Erasmus who participated were prevented from seeing and were taken to the dining room, where the activity was carried out.
