Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
Raise awareness about the difficulties that a blind person faces in simply daily tasks that most of us take for granted, a reality, wich affects milions of people around the world, that is many times missunderstood and not given the attention it deservers, promoting this way a "eye opening experience" that hopefully may inspire others to make changes in our society.
Short description of the event:
The participants had the oportunity to experience a “Dinner in the dark”! where they were blindfolded while having dinner, making this dinner a real challenge for the senses. The dinner consisted of a two course meal, a soup and chicken as main course, on the first dish, the participants where asked to eat the soup blindfolded until they were finished. In the main course, the chicken, given its is a far more difficult task, the participants were asked to eat it blindfolded for 10 minuts. This was a way for the participants to experience a bit of the struggles that a blind person faces troughout a normal day.
How did your event go?:
The dinner was quite pleasent and very fun, but most of all, very ilucidative. The experience turned out to be a much harder challenge that any of us expected, it was very confusing sometimes to understand what was happening, where the food was, what it really was that you had in your fork/spoon and how to use it. In the end everyone had a feeling of respect and more understing for people who face this situation every day, fullfiling this way the main objective of the event.
