Goal of the event:
Raise awareness through games that simulate impairments, so that people know better how it feels to have an impairment and start to take action and notice how important it is to make places accessible and give everyone the same opportunities.
Short description of the event:
A Fair with checkpoints where people could try games that simulate impairments. There was 8 tables, one person at every table explaining the game. People needed to do small movements with thick gloves that simulated arthritis, they needed to do the "lip reading challenge", try to remember a list of words (memory impairments), do a test to see if they had some form of color blindness, and so on. The games were developed by the organisers of the Fair, the equipment was cheap and we used creativity to let the message pass. Mainly it was about making people more conscious of what the challenges can be and how important it is to give all the people the same opportunities and make places more accessible.
How did your event go?:
It was our first EA Fair, not totally successful but we plan to do it again at least once a semester.
