Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
We did the "Feeding A Friend Blindfolded" activity in order to understand visually impaired people by helping our friend for eating their foods. We thought that even eating in the dark is difficult all by itself, feeding someone else must be much more difficult than eating. That's why, we organised this event in order to understand visually impaired people by helping our friend for eating their foods.
Short description of the event:
We thought that even eating in the dark is difficult all by itself, feeding someone else must be much more difficult than eating. That's why, we organised this event in order to understand visually impaired people by helping our friend for eating their foods. First, we took our meal including soup, main dish and dessert. We chose foods which are easy to spill, for example, we took soup on purpose to learn how difficult it is. Then we all tied our eyes with scarves and buffs. When we couldn't see anything, we started to feed our friend. The main aim of this activity was to understand how difficult it is. That's why, the person who gives the food had more difficulties by finding his/her friend's mouth. After that, the most important thing was not to spill the meal over oneself.
How did your event go?:
At first, it really was difficult to get used to finding the mouth, feeding without spilling the meal but after 15 minutes, everyone got used to finding mouth, feeding and repeating it. At the end of the activity, we all ate our foods.
