Goal of the event:
This EA event was organised with the goal of raising awareness among our newbies about this project is about, which challenges face people with disabilities and how difficult it is for us to step into their shoes even for an hour.
Short description of the event:
The event was organized during our Local Platform, at lunch time and pur volunteers, mostly newbies, attending the LP were asked to get their food and eat only using one hand, left for the right handed people and right for the left handed people, for the entire lunch break.
It wasn't easy and everybody was tempted at some point to use both hands, finding difficult even to open the ketchup bottle with one hand.
After lunch, we've discussed about the ExchangeAbility project during a short presentation.
Our volunteers showed a great interest in finding out more about the project after this lunch. The newbies were surprised about it and at first they event thought were are playing games on them when we first told them what they are supposed to do. Once we explained the meaning of this action, everybody got involved enthusiastically.
How did your event go?:
The event went well and I think we managed to make especially the newbies, more interested in this project and furthermore we really paid attention to the presentation following the lunch meaning we've managed to reach our goal of raising awareness of the project.
