Description
Aim of the event:
  • Raise Awareness
Goal of the event:
The main goal of the event is to educate students about the life of people with disabilities. We want to show them another type of activities, we want exchange students to learn how to be tolerant, understanding and patient.
Short description of the event:
We organised a small, private event, so that students can have a good time while learning something new. We watched a biopic about an autistic woman finding her way in life. She made a big contribution to the society by creating new practices for the humane handling of livestock on cattle ranches and slaughterhouses.
The film follows woman's life. As a child, she was uncommunicative and prone to tantrums and is diagnosed with autism. Despite recommendations to place her in an institution, her mother hires therapists and works to help her daughter adapt to social interaction. As a teenager, she travels to her aunt's ranch to work. Temple faces sexism while attempting to integrate into the world of cattle ranching but ultimately designs a new dip structure designed to allow cattle to voluntarily move through rather than being forced.
The film teaches us to be tolerant and to stand up to bullies at schools.
How did your event go?:
We had a nice time. Of course, the film was tuff, but it encouraged us to think about what forms life can have. How important is to accept each other's differences and be helpful.
