Goal of the event:
The goal of the event was to raise awareness about deafness and teach the erasmus some sing language basics.
We try to make their see what the difficulties of being deaf could be.
Short description of the event:
We had a "tapas" dinner in which the Erasmus were given material from the Federacion De Sordos de Madrid with information about the deaf community, the sign alphabet and several dynamics that we did during the Dinner. The Erasmus learned how to say their names with sign language and some common words used in the everyday life. We made a mimic game in which the Erasmus had to make signs to describe something to his partner that had to write what he was understanding in a notepad. At the end of the activity each participant was baptized with a gesture as all deaf people do to recognize them by their gesture as if it was their name.
How did your event go?:
The Erasmus enjoyed the activity and want to repeat with another dinner to learn more.
